Swimming And Diving Teams Among Top Two At All-N.C. Invitational

The meet features 10 programs from the Old North State along with ECU and NC State, including Campbell, Catawba, Davidson, Gardner-Webb, Greensboro College, North Carolina A&T, Pfeiffer, Queens University of Charlotte, UNC-Asheville, St. Andrews College and Wingate.
The Purple and Gold posted six first-place finishes overall, sweeping the individual medley events. Junior Rokas Cepulis edged out NC State's Christian McCurdy by 0.44 to win the men's 200-yard IM with a time of 1:52.41. Sophomore Bailie Monahan and Ashlyn Koletic of NC State touched at the exact same moment in the women's 200 IM to tie for first-place with a time of 2:06.91.
Monahan was the only multi-event winner for ECU as she also helped the Pirates capture first-place in the 400-yard medley relay. Joined by senior Anna Gibas, sophomore Megan Sellers and freshman Tori Angermeier, the foursome claimed the event by more than two seconds over second-place NC State with a time of 3:48.68.
Sophomore Michael Dugan captured first-place in the 500-yard freestyle beating out Marko Blazevski of Wingate by 0.52 seconds, touching in a time of 4:35.80.
Freshman diver Ashley Sams picked up her first career victory on the 1-meter board as the Pirates claimed the top three positions. Sam posted a score of 263.45 followed by freshman Alicia Roueche (242.05) and senior Taylor Edwards (239.80).
Freshman Will Beliveau also picked up his first career win Friday as well, taking home the highest score (280.20) on the men's 3-meter board. Sophomore Alex Clark finished second with a total score of 217.95.
The meet resumes Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Admission for the event is free, but parking at the Greensboro Aquatic Center is $5 per day.
