GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina men and women's swimming and diving teams have received their highest rankings in school history as the first Endless Pool/CollegeSwimming.com polls of the season were released Wednesday.
The ECU women's swimming and diving team is ranked 35th in the poll, while the men are 38th. The ladies team tallied 885.6 performance points in the poll, finishing 28 points outside the top 25. The men's team compiled 763.3 points.
The Endless Pools/CollegeSwimming.com ranking is billed as the only objective measure of college swimming teams in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and NJCAA. The rankings account for teams' top performances over the preceding month (Sept. 30 - Oct.27).
The ladies team is 2-0 in dual meet competition this season with a win over South Carolina and also posted a second-place finish at the All-North Carolina Invitational in Greensboro. The men's squad also captured second-place at the All-North Carolina meet and has a 1-1 dual meet record.
The Pirates return to action Saturday, Nov. 2 as they host Richmond and Limestone in a tri-meet at Minges Natatorium. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
