IRVING, Texas - East Carolina freshman Bailie Monahan has been named Conference USA Swimmer-of-the-Week after posting two of the top times in the league during her swims in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly events Saturday against William & Mary. The award is Monahan's second of the season and of her career.
Monahan posted a time of 56.91 in the 100-yard butterfly and 2:03.46 in the 200-yard butterfly. She won the 100 by a full second over the second-place finisher from William & Mary and the 200 by nearly two seconds over teammate Lauren Gray.
East Carolina defeated William & Mary, 166-94, Saturday to improve to 5-1 this season. Monahan and her ECU teammates will participate in the Nike Cup beginning Thursday at Koury Natatorium on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Monahan previously won the award on Oct. 23 after winning two individual events and two relays in the dual meet victory over Davidson.
