GREENVILLE, N.C. –The East Carolina track & field program has had two weeks to prepare for the Sea Ray Relays which will begin on Wednesday, April 10. However, the Pirates’ will not begin competing in events until Friday, April 12.

The Pirates are coming off a successful outing at the Mountains versus Beaches Quad Meet two weeks ago at Appalachian State. In that meet, ECU won 12 individual events as the women claimed six titles and the men won half a dozen events. Erin Tucker (100-meter hurdles), Victoria Robinson (400-meter hurdles), Olivia Slate (1,500-meter run), Kayla Padgett (hammer throw), Krista Vincent (javelin), and the women’s 4x400-meter relay team all won their respective events. On the men’s side, Michael Neal (100-meter dash), Jakub Trzasalski (800-meter run), Cameron Hudson (long jump), Kyle Hefkin (javelin), as well as the men’s 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay squads earned first-place finishes.

“Having a weekend off, both teams are very well rested and ready to compete,” Head Coach Curt Kraft said. “We have had two weeks of really good practices and a chance to heel up some injuries. We are at a point in the season where it’s not too early to start thinking about the Conference USA Championships, which are about a month away.”

East Carolina is one of 60 teams and more than 1,200 athletes that will compete in the four-day meet. The Sea Ray Relays will be held at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
