ECU's Crossley Named to All-USA Boys Track & Field Team

GREENVILLE, N.C. - John Crossley, who will compete for the East Carolina cross country and track & field teams beginning in the 2013-14 season, was named to the All-USA Boys Track & Field Team by USA Today.

A native of Morehead City, N.C., Crossley earned the honors in the 800-meter run after posting a personal best time of 1:48.01 which is also the North Carolina state record. Crossley, a product of West Carteret High School, will come to ECU with a number of honors under his belt including winning the 2013 New Balance Championship in the same event. He was also the 2013 3A State Champion in the 800-meter run and was ranked No. 1 in the state in both the 800-meter run and the mile run (4:14.84).

During the indoor track season, Crossley won the 1A/2A/3A Indoor State Championship in the 1,000-meter run as a senior. Additionally, he was the 2012 3A State Champion in the 800-meter and was the 2012 State Cross Country Championship runner up.

The Pirates will kick off the 2013 cross country season Friday, August 30 at the Covered Bridge Invitational in Boone, N.C.
