Paced East Carolina twice during the year, at the Panorama Farms Invitational and NCAA Southeast Regional ... Finished 30th or better five times during the season ... Started the campaign with the second-best 6,400-meter race in program history, 20:38, and 30th-place finish at the Covered Bridge Open ... Two weeks later, tied for ninth on the ECU all-time 5K list with a 15:42 time at the Wolfpack Invitational, good for 14th ... Finished second at the 8K ECU Pirate Invitational in 26:39 ... At the next meet, the Greater Louisville Classic, completed the 8K in 26:03.77, good for 211th place ... In another pair of 8K races, finished 29th at the Panorama Farms Invitational (25:14.02) and 25th at the Conference USA Championship (25:15) ... 2009: Named the team's most valuable runner and top freshman after pacing the squad in all but the first meet of the season ... Turned in four top-10 finishes and placed in the top 20 at six of the seven meets ... Came in second on the squad and fourth overall at the Campbell Invitational with a time of 12:36.1 in the 4K ... Ran the fastest 5K in program history, 15:19.24, at the Seahawk Invitational, coming in fourth overall ... Led the team to the title at the ECU Pirate Invitational, placing second overall with a 25:49 time in the 8K ... Finished sixth of 125 in the 8K Great American Cross Country Festival, clocking out at 24:44 for the eighth-fastest mark in Pirate history and the first to break into the program's top-20 list since 2004 ... 25:48 time in the 8K at the Penn State Nationals put him 18th of 130 runners ... Finished 15th at the C-USA Championship, just one spot shy of earning all-league honors, with a time of 25:34.0 in the 8K ... At the NCAA Southeast Regional, placed 36th with a 10K time of 31:29.19, the fourth-best mark in program history.
