RALEIGH, N.C. - It was double second-place finishes for the men's and women's East Carolina cross country teams at the Wolfpack Invitational on Friday at the Wake Med Soccer Park's cross country course. Both teams finished second to the host team, North Carolina State. The men were second out of 14 teams, while the women placed ahead of 10 other squads.

The men's team was paced by freshman Zack Montijo, who finished eighth with a time of 15:41.00. Junior Andrew Nastasiak finished second for the Pirates, and 15th overall, checking in at 16:30.00. Other top-25 men's team performances were turned in by senior Drew Jenkins (19th/16:56.00), redshirt junior Michael Scott (22nd/17:15.00) and sophomore Shaffey Singh (25th/17:21.00).

For the women, the team was led by the 11th and 12th place finishes of junior Nicole Briggs (19:43.00) and senior Hollie Brooks (19:46.00). Freshman Tara Wilson also had a great inaugural meet, as she came in 16th place with a time of 19:57.00. Rounding out the women's top-25 for the Pirates were sophomore Lisa DeLorenzo (18th/20:14.00) and freshman Amanda Lap (20th/20:23.00).


 

 

The teams take next weekend off before returning to action when they host the ECU Pirates Invitational on Sept. 27.
