GREENVILLE, N.C. – Following its fifth straight double victory at its very own Pirate Invitational last weekend, the East Carolina men’s and women’s cross country teams will head north to Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., for the 40th annual Paul Short Invitational.

The races will begin under a staggered start, opening with the women’s 6K race at 10 a.m., followed by the men’s 8K race at 10 a.m. The events will feature three top-30 nationally-ranked Division I men's teams and six top-30 nationally-ranked Division I women's teams.

At last weekend’s Pirate Invitational at Lake Kristi, both the men’s and women’s teams posted perfect scores with 15 points each, which included both squads sweeping the top five finishers. Redshirt junior Chase Miller won the men’s 5K race for the second year in a row with a 15:32.26 time, while redshirt senior Brooke Kott recorded her second 5K victory of the season by winning the women’s race in 18:02.53.

This weekend’s meet will be the final event before East Carolina enters the championship portion of its 2013 schedule, beginning with pre-nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., on Oct. 19. The Conference USA Championships will be held two weeks later, Nov. 2, in Denton, Texas.
