THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE GAME
The two teams will meet for the 58th time on the diamond when they play the first of the home-and-home series in Richmond, Va. on Feb. 25 ... The Pirates have won nine of the last 15 meetings, but dropped the two-game home-and-home series in 2012 (18-11/Greenville, 11-2/Richmond).
ECU enters this weeks action having dropped three games in a row all at top-ranked Virginia (3-2, 4-0 and 6-2), while VCU enters the week 6-1 including a road sweep at Furman (14-9, 8-7 and 3-2 in 10 innings).
ECU returns 18 letterwinners including Second-Team Louisville Slugger All-American Drew Reynolds and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American David Lucroy. Joining Reynolds (first-team) and Lucroy (second-team/freshman team), who were also All-Conference USA performers in 2013, are Hoffman (second-team/'13), Zach Houchins (second-team/'13) and Travis Watkins (freshman team/'13).
Also stepping onto the diamond are 16 new faces, which consist of five junior college transfers in Hunter Allen (Brunswick CC), James Gray (South Florida State College), Reid Love (St. Johns River State College), Brandon Saunders (Pitt CC) and Ian Townsend (St. Johns River State College)
The Pirates also welcome to campus 11 true freshmen in Luke Bolka, Kirkpatrick, TJ McDonald, Bryce Harman, Evan Kruczynski, Kirk Morgan, Philip Perry, Cameron Snow, Eric Tyler, Jacob Wolfe and Charlie Yorgen.

Bolton Notes: Got the Sunday start against James Madison the opening weekend ... Worked 4.0 innings allowing 2 runs (1 ER) on 4 hits with a walk and strikeout ... 2013: Appeared in a career-best 10 games making 2 starts ... Stuck out 10 while walking 6 in 14.2 innings ... Senior Zach Houchins enters the week riding a 10-game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 25-straight games dating back to last season ... In seven games he is batting .321 (9-for-28) with three RBI and a pair of multi-hit games.
Sophomore Garrett Brooks is batting .316 (6-fo-19) with four walks, four runs scored as the Pirates leadoff hitter, while recording a hit in 5 of 7 contests.
Junior Ian Townsend leads the club with seven RBI posting three in his Pirate debut coming on a three-run homer against James Madison in the season opener ... He followed that contest with another RBI in the his second game and also drove in three runs in ECU's 8-3 win over instate foe Campbell.
Senior Ryan Williams has posted a 2-0 record with a 1.38 ERA in four relief appearances ... The right-hander got both wins in the series opener against James Madison and has allowed three runs (two earned) with 10 strikeouts in 13.0 innings thus far.
ECU Head Coach Billy Godwin enters his 15th career as a college head coach, where he owns a career record of 549-277-1 ... At ECU he is 287-192-1 in nine seasons ... His 287 wins trails only ECU Hall of Famer Dr. Gary Overton, who amassed 427 wins in 13 years (1985-1997) as the Pirates' skipper.
