Any member of the Pirate Nation that purchases a Coke product from Wilco Hess will receive a buy one get one offer to any home East Carolina baseball game in the month of March. THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE GAME
East Carolina enters the Conference USA opener having won four-straight games, including a sweep of the 11th Annual Keith LeClair Classic (Tournament Central) defeating Western Kentucky (2-1/10 inn.), Pittsburgh (4-2) and Ohio State (3-2) ... The Pirates won its midweek contest at UNC Greensboro 4-3 in 10 innings snapping their four-game road losing streak.
ECU will start its final season in Conference USA hosting Marshall in a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 8 at 12 noon with game two of the series following approximately 45 minutes later ... Game three of the series is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
ECU returns 18 letterwinners including Second-Team Louisville Slugger All-American Drew Reynolds and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American David Lucroy. Joining Reynolds (first-team) and Lucroy (second-team/freshman team), who were also All-Conference USA performers in 2013, are Hoffman (second-team/'13), Zach Houchins (second-team/'13) and Travis Watkins (freshman team/'13).
Also stepping onto the diamond are 16 new faces, which consist of five junior college transfers in Hunter Allen (Brunswick CC), James Gray (South Florida State College), Reid Love (St. Johns River State College), Brandon Saunders (Pitt CC) and Ian Townsend (St. Johns River State College)
The Pirates also welcome to campus 11 true freshmen in Luke Bolka, Kirkpatrick, TJ McDonald, Bryce Harman, Evan Kruczynski, Kirk Morgan, Philip Perry, Cameron Snow, Eric Tyler, Jacob Wolfe and Charlie Yorgen.

RHP Ryan Williams is the national co-leader in victories with four entering this weeks action ... The senior from Morgan Hill, Calif. picked up a pair of wins in the LeClair Classic (Western Kentucky and Ohio State) over the weekend ... In seven outings, he sports an 0.90 ERA allowing three runs (two earned) on 13 hits in 20.0 innings ... Williams has a 18-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio and is holding opposing batters to a .178 composite average.
Senior Drew Reynolds became ECU's all-time saver leader of the weekend picking up a pair of saves at the 11th Annual Keith LeClair Classic ... Entering the 2014 season, Reynolds had 24 saves ranking second behind former Pirate closer Seth Simmons (2008-11), who has 26 ... On the season he has successfully converted on all three save opportunities pushing his career total to 27 ... In five relief appearances, he sports a 1-0 record with a 1.80 ERA allowing two runs (earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts.
Senior Zach Houchins collected his fifth career game-winning RBI at UNCG with a double in the 10th that scored Kirk Morgan ... He was 3-for-4 on the day leading the Pirates in hits ... On the young season he is batting .292 with two doubles and four RBI ... He currently leads the team in runs scored (seven) and stolen bases (three).
Junior Ian Townsend leads the club with nine RBI posting three in his Pirate debut coming on a three-run homer against James Madison in the season opener ... He followed that contest with another RBI in the his second game and also drove in three runs in ECU's 8-3 win over instate foe Campbell ... Over the weekend he recorded a pair of game-winning RBI against Pittsburgh (sac fly) and Ohio State (RBI double).
Sophomore Travis Watkins was named to the official Johnny Bench Award Watch List earlier this week ... The Concord, N.C. native, who is on the initial list for the second-straight season, is batting .333 (7-for-21) with four RBI in seven games behind the plate.
ECU Head Coach Billy Godwin enters his 15th career as a college head coach, where he owns a career record of 554-279-1 ... At ECU he is 292-194-1 in nine seasons ... His 292 wins trails only ECU Hall of Famer Dr. Gary Overton, who amassed 427 wins in 13 years (1985-1997) as the Pirates' skipper.
