THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE GAME
ECU enters tonight's game against Wake Forest with an 8-8 overall record and a 1-2 C-USA ledger after loosing a series at home against Marshall ... Zach Houchins batted .588 (10-for-17) on the week driving in three runs and recording three doubles ... LHP Reid Love picked up the lone win for the Pirates as a starter working 5.1 shutout innings in game two of a doubleheader against The Herd ... Senior RHP Ryan Williams notched his first career save in the Pirates 1-0 shutout tossing 3.2 scoreless frames and lowering his ERA to a team-best 0.76.
ECU returns 18 letterwinners including Second-Team Louisville Slugger All-American Drew Reynolds and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American David Lucroy. Joining Reynolds (first-team) and Lucroy (second-team/freshman team), who were also All-Conference USA performers in 2013, are Hoffman (second-team/'13), Zach Houchins (second-team/'13) and Travis Watkins (freshman team/'13).
Also stepping onto the diamond are 16 new faces, which consist of five junior college transfers in Hunter Allen (Brunswick CC), James Gray (South Florida State College), Reid Love (St. Johns River State College), Brandon Saunders (Pitt CC) and Ian Townsend (St. Johns River State College)
The Pirates also welcome to campus 11 true freshmen in Luke Bolka, Kirkpatrick, TJ McDonald, Bryce Harman, Evan Kruczynski, Kirk Morgan, Philip Perry, Cameron Snow, Eric Tyler, Jacob Wolfe and Charlie Yorgen.

STARTING PITCHER NOTES
Bolton Notes Started three games (James Madison, VCU and UNC Greensboro), where he has allowed 4 Rs (3 ERs) on 16 Hs with 8 BBs and & Ks ... Recorded a no-decision last week against the Spartans despite giving up a run on 7 Hs with 2 BBs and a strikeout ... Suffered loss at VCU despite going 6.0 innings where he surrendered one run (earned) on 5 Hs with 5 Ks, 5 BBs ... Got the Sunday start against James Madison the opening weekend ... Worked 4.0 innings allowing 2 Rs (1 ER) on 4 Hs with a BB and K.
OTHER PIRATES TO WATCH (start of the week)
RHP Ryan Williams is the national co-leader in victories with four entering this weeks action ... The senior from Morgan Hill, Calif. picked up a pair of wins in the LeClair Classic (Western Kentucky and Ohio State) ... In eight outings, he sports an 0.76 ERA allowing three runs (two earned) on 14 hits in 23.2 innings ... Williams notched his first career save against Marshall in a 1-0 shutout and on the year boasts a K-to-BB ratio of 10.5 (21 K/2 BB), while holding opposing batters to a .165 composite average.
Senior Drew Reynolds became ECU's all-time saver leader of the weekend picking up a pair of saves at the 11th Annual Keith LeClair Classic ... Entering the 2014 season, Reynolds had 24 saves ranking second behind former Pirate closer Seth Simmons (2008-11), who has 26 ... On the season he has successfully converted on all three save opportunities pushing his career total to 27 ... In six relief appearances, he sports a 1-0 record with a 1.50 ERA allowing two runs (earned) on five hits with eight strikeouts.
Senior Zach Houchins collected his fifth career game-winning RBI at UNCG with a double in the 10th that scored Kirk Morgan ... He was 3-for-4 on the day leading the Pirates in hits ... On the season he is batting .350 with four doubles and six RBI ... He currently leads the team in runs scored (eighth) and stolen bases (three).
Junior Ian Townsend leads the club with 10 RBI posting three in his Pirate debut coming on a three-run homer against James Madison in the season opener ... He followed that contest with another RBI in the his second game and also drove in three runs in ECU's 8-3 win over instate foe Campbell ... In the LeClair Classic, he recorded a pair of game-winning RBI against Pittsburgh (sac fly) and Ohio State (RBI double).
Sophomore Travis Watkins was named to the official Johnny Bench Award Watch List last week ... The Concord, N.C. native, who is on the initial list for the second-straight season, is batting .360 (9-for-25) with five RBI in nine games - seven behind the plate.
ECU Head Coach Billy Godwin enters his 15th career as a college head coach, where he owns a career record of 554-281-1 ... At ECU he is 292-196-1 in nine seasons ... His 292 wins trails only ECU Hall of Famer Dr. Gary Overton, who amassed 427 wins in 13 years (1985-1997) as the Pirates' skipper.
