Trevor Lawhorn Named to 2004 Golden Spikes Award Watch List

GREENVILLE, N.C - East Carolina sophomore second baseman Trevor Lawhorn has been named to the first watch list of 30 players for the 2004 Golden Spikes Award given to the top amateur player in America presented by USA Baseball in partnership with the Major League Baseball Players Association. USA Baseball will announce their five finalists in June.

In his first season as a Pirate, Lawhorn currently is hitting .336 with a team and Conference USA-high 13 home runs. Of his 40 hits, 22 are extra-base hits as the sophomore as driven in a team-high 35 RBI. He is second on the team in slugging percentage (.739).

USF catcher Devan Ivany is the only other C-USA player named to the list thus far in the season. Ivany is hitting .392 with 10 doubles, one triple, three homers and 36 RBI. He has thrown 12 baserunners.

Based on nominations from their respective universities, players are subject to change based on weekly performance.
