Senior Ryan Williams joins fellow Pirate senior Brett Mabry on Pitcher-of-the-Year Watch List

LUBBOCK, Texas - East Carolina seniors Brett Mabry and Ryan Williams are two of 47 hurlers that are featured on the initial Pitcher-Of-The-Year Watch List, sponsored by Diamond Sports and the College Baseball Hall of Fame, the organization announced Friday afternoon.
Mabry, a native of Shelby, N.C., owns a 3-1 record with a 1.36 ERA, which ranks fifth in Conference USA (all games) and 32nd nationally. The right-hander has appeared in 13 games (three starts) picking up wins against Pittsburgh, Charlotte and No. 25 NC State. Against the Wolf Pack, he tossed a career-best 6.0 shutout innings tying his career-high with six strikeouts. On the season he has allowed 13 runs (seven earned) on 40 hits in 46.1 innings with 24 punch-outs.
Williams, who was recently named to the NCBWA Midseason Stopper-of-the-Year Watch List, is the NCAA leader in wins (10), 11th in K-to-BB ratio (8.50) and 13th in BBs per 9 Inn (0.84). In 24 appearances, he is 10-2 with five saves and has 55 strikeouts to just six walks. The Morgan Hill, Calif. native has allowed 19 runs (13 earned) on 58 hits in 68.2 innings sporting a 1.70 ERA (ninth in C-USA).
The winner of the Pitcher-of-the-Year Award will be announced on June 28 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the annual College Baseball Night of Champions. The event features the presentation of numerous awards and the induction ceremony for this year's Hall of Fame class.
