Pirate Hitter-of-the-Week
Drew Reynolds, Sophomore, INF/RHP
Reynolds batted a .538 (7-for-13) on the week and helped the Pirates to a C-USA home series sweep over Marshall ... On the week he collected a pair of multi-hit games and reached base safely in all three contests, extending his current streak to five games ... The sophomore two-way star also recorded his league-leading 10th save in the series finale striking out the side ... Reynolds, who was recently named to the John Olerud Award Watch List for the nation's top two-way player, was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored in ECU's series opening 8-2 win ... He reached base four times on the night (error, 2 singles, double) ... Reynolds scored the Pirates first run after reaching on an error in the first inning ... In the second frame he laced a two-out RBI single down the left field line scoring Ben Fultz and later scored on John Wooten's single to center ... He roped his seventh double of the season in the fourth frame, just his ninth extra base hit of the season ... In the sixth he singled up the middle and came around to score for the third time on Wooten's third base knock of the game ... Although he did not record a hit in the second game of the series, Reynolds did reach base in the ninth frame when he was hit by a pitch during the Pirates come from behind win ... He finished the day 0-for-3 with a sac bunt and hit by pitch ... In the series finale, Reynolds recorded a career-best and game-high four hits going 4-for-5 with an RBI and run scored ... He recorded three two-out base hits and drove in his lone run of the day with two-outs in the third inning scoring Tim Younger for the Pirates first run of the contest ... After his base hit to right-center in the fifth frame, Reynolds reached for the third time of the day with another single to right-center in the seventh and came around to score the game-winning run on Zach Wright's bases clearing double in the seventh ... He closed the afternoon with another hit up the middle, his fourth-straight on the day ... Reynolds picked up his team and Conference USA leading 10th save of the season as well on Sunday tossing a scoreless ninth frame ... The right-hander faced four batters striking out the side, while issuing a two-out walk ... On the season Reynolds leads the Pirates with a .350 average and 57 hits, while ranking second with a .429 slugging percentage ... He has driven in 20 runs and scored 22, roped seven doubles and hit a pair of home runs ... Reynolds also shares the team lead with 17 multi-hit games and has recorded three multi-RBI contests ... On the mound he sports a 3-0 record to go along with his 10 saves ... He has allowed 10 runs (six earned) in 20.2 innings with 19 strikeouts to just six walks and sports a 2.61 ERA ... Opposing hitters are batting a composite .216 against him.

Kevin Brandt, Senior, LHP
Brandt picked up his sixth win of the season (third in C-USA action) against The Herd in the series opener Friday night ... The left-hander set a new school record by picking off three batters in the contest and pushed his C-USA lead to seven ... He scattered six hits over eight innings, where he allowed one run (earned) with three strikeouts ... Brandt, who issued four free passes on the night, picked off three of the four free base runners ... He faced 30 batters (six over the minimum) as one runner in the second inning was thrown out trying to steal second ... Brandt retired the side in order four times, faced four batters twice and five once (eighth inning only) ... He induced eight fly ball outs and nine ground outs to go with his three strikeouts ... On the season he owns a 6-4 record with two complete games ... He has allowed 26 runs (19 earned) on 71 hits for a 2.06 ERA ... Brandt ranks second on the team with 53 punch outs and has walked 23 batters in a C-USA best 83.0 innings of work ... Of his 12 starts, he has posted a team-best 11 quality starts (6.0-plus IP/ 3-or less ERs) ... He is holding opposing hitters to a .235 composite batting average.

PIRATE NOTES
The Pirates picked up their fourth Conference USA series win (UAB, Houston and Memphis) of the season against Marshall ... With the series sweep - second of the season - ECU closes out its home C-USA slate with a 9-2-1 record and remains in third place heading into its final weekend of league action at Southern Miss ... The Pirates off week from conference play is the last weekend of the season ... The Pirates have won eight weekend series overall, which includes sweeps of Milwaukee, Stony Brook, Alabama Tournament, Penn State, UAB and Marshall.

ECU's pitching staff posted a 2.57 ERA on the week allowing 12 runs (eight earned) on 26 hits with 20 strikeouts ... On the season as a whole they sport a 3.05 ERA, which ranks third in C-USA and among the national leaders (top 30) ... In 48 games, ECU has allowed 193 runs (148 earned) with 332 strikeouts, 129 walks and are holding opposing hitters to a composite .250 average ... The bullpen has allowed 75 runs (51 earned) on 146 hits in 167.2 innings with a 2.74 ERA ... They have inherited 97 runners allowing 32 to score (33.0 percent).

Senior Tim Younger extended his current streak of reaching base safely to 26 games with his double down the right field line in the second inning on Sunday ... Currently he ranks first on the team with a .435 on-base percentage and is second on the team with a .329 (53-for-161) average ... On the week Younger collected three hits, drove in a run and scored a run.

Redshirt junior Philip Clark batted a team-best .571 (4-for-7) on the week with three RBI ... In Saturday's extra inning contest, Clark came off the bench to post a pair of hits and in the 10th inning drove in the game winning run on a bunt single down the third base line that scored Zach Wright ... Sunday, he posted his second multi-hit game of the weekend going 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs ... On the season he is batting .282 (40-for-142) two doubles, triple, 16 RBI and 11 runs ... He now has 10 multi-hit games, which ranks seventh on the team.

Senior Zach Wright batted .455 (5-for-11) on the weekend pushing his season average to .306 ... He collected a team-best four RBI with three coming on a game-winning bases loaded double Sunday afternoon, which completed the sweep of The Herd ... With his three-hit performance in the series finale, Wright extended his current hit streak to five games ... Currently he leads the team with in RBIs (33), while ranking second in runs (33).

Junior John Wooten continued his stellar play batting .364 (4-for-11) on the week, which included a three-hit performance in the series opener ... He drove collected a pair of RBI, walked three times and scored three runs to push his season total to 40, which ranks seventh in C-USA action ... This year he is batting .321 (59-for-184) with seven home runs, seven doubles and 28 RBI.

Sophomore's Ben Fultz and Chase McDonald each added three RBI on the week ... Fultz had a two-RBI single down the right field line in the first inning of Friday night's game and added another RBI on a sac fly during Saturday's game ... McDonald belted his third home run of the season in the opener sending a two-run shot to right field in the seventh inning, capping off a 2-for-4 night ... He drove in his third run of the series Saturday afternoon on a one-out double in the fourth scoring Wooten.

Freshman Jeff Hoffman picked up his second win of the season (first in league play) on Sunday against Marshall ... The right-hander worked 2 1/3 innings in relief allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and combined on a three-hitter for the Pirates (Cotton-1, Hoffman-2, Reynolds-0) ... In nine appearances out of the bullpen, Hoffman sports a 1.84 ERA in 14.2 innings where he has allowed five runs (three earned) on eight hits with seven strikeouts ... As a starter, he has recorded 32 strikeouts to just six walks in 37.2 innings with a 2.87 ERA ... Currently he ranks among the league leaders (all games) in opposing batting average (.208/3rd) and ERA (2.58/8th).

Redshirt sophomore Tanner Merritt notched his third win of the season in relief during ECU's 8-7 (10 inn.) win Saturday ... He worked 2 2/3 innings allowing two runs (both earned) on three hits appearing in his 22nd game of the year, which ranks sixth in C-USA (all games) ... On the season he sports a 2.81 ERA and ranks second on the team and sixth in C-USA (all games) with seven saves.

Junior college transfer Andy Smithmyer appeared in his 16th game out of the bullpen Saturday working 3 1/3 innings where he allowed one run (earned) on two hits with a pair of walks and strikeouts ... He currently leads the Pirates with a 1.48 ERA in 42.2 innings and is fourth on the squad with 46 punch outs.

Head Coach Billy Godwin recorded his 510th career win (248th at ECU) Sunday afternoon ... For his career, Godwin owns a 510-239-1 record ... He ranks second all-time on ECU's win list (248) and trails only ECU Hall of Famer Gary Overton (427).
