The Pirates closed out their 2012 Conference USA schedule this past weekend dropping all three games at Southern Miss to end with a 13-10-1 record ... Heading into the final week of the 2012 season, the Pirates are currently in fifth place and can finish anywhere from third to sixth in the standings, depending on what happens this weekend ... ECU owns a 5-5 ledger in their last 10 games ... Tonight's game is also the home finale of the 2012 season and the last game for six ECU seniors (Kevin Brandt, Lance Honeycutt, Corey Thompson, Mike Ussery, Zach Wright and Tim Younger) ... The Pirates own a 22-7-1 record at Clark-LeClair Stadium this season ... ECU will wrap up the 2012 regular season with a pair of road games in the state of Virginia ... On Friday, May 18, ECU will square off against VMI in a neutral site match up before closing out against VCU at The Diamond on Saturday, May 19 ... Both games are slated for a 2 p.m. (EST) start.
Senior Kevin Brandt (6-5, 1.88 ERA) will make his final regular season start tonight against the Panthers on three-days rest ... The southpaw tossed his third complete game of the season at Southern Miss dropping a hard fought 1-0 contest ... It was his third complete game loss of the 2012 season (others: No. 19 UCF, No. 7 Rice) ... In 13 starts on the season, Brandt has collected a team-high 12 quality starts (6-plus IP, 3-or less ERs) ... Currently he ranks among the league leaders in ERA, opposing batting average, innings pitched (1st), wins, total strikeouts, strikeouts looking, starts (t-1st) and fewest earned runs allowed ... He also leads C-USA with seven pick offs after setting a new ECU single-game record with three against Marshall (5/4) ... During his four year career, Brandt owns a 25-17 ledger with 263 strikeouts and a 3.15 ERA.

In the latest RPI reports (May 14), the Pirates have the third-best RPI in Conference USA ranking 25th by WarrenNolan.com and BoydsWorld.com ... In the NCAA's most recent RPI report that was released on May 8, the Pirates came in at No. 23.
GODWIN GETS No. 500
Head Coach Billy Godwin recorded his 500th career win in the series opener against Houston on April 5 in ECU's 10-3 victory ... For his career, Godwin owns a 511-242-1 record ... He ranks second all-time on ECU's wins list (249) and trails only ECU Hall of Famer Gary Overton (427).
