Ryan Wood Named Louisville Slugger All-American

TUCSON, Ariz. - East Carolina senior Ryan Wood added another piece of hardware to his trophy case when he was named third-team All-American by the Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball publication Thursday afternoon.
The second baseman, who was named first-team All Conference USA last week, is batting a team and C-USA best .387 with 91 hits, 55 RBIs, 20 doubles, 47 walks and has scored 79 runs - all career-highs.
Against in-state rival UNC Wilmington, the Woodbridge, Va. native became the fourth Pirate since 1999 to hit for cycle in ECU's 12-5 and was named to the College Baseball Foundation and Diamond Sports National All-Star Lineup on May 19.
During his senior season, Wood became ECU's all-time leader in runs scored (217) and walks (148), while ranking among the all-time top 10 in games played (230), games started (219), at-bats (840), hits (276), RBIs (152), doubles (46), home runs (34), total bases (428) and assists (630).
Wood and the Pirates (42-17) started their preparation of the 2009 Greenville Regional Thursday morning going through a one hour 15 minute practice at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. The Pirates will open up regional play Friday night at 7 p.m. when they face Binghamton (29-20).
