GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina trio of Corey Kemp, T.J. Hose and Ryan Wood each heard their names called Friday as they were selected in the 2008 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
Kemp, the Conference USA Player-of-the-Year was chosen by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 14th round (pick 428), while Hose was selected in the 36th round (pick 1098) by the Arizona Diamondbacks and Wood was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers (Round 42, pick 1268).
Kemp, Hose and Wood join teammate Justin Bristow (Chicago Cubs, Round 5, pick 161) as the only Pirates to be selected. Since 2003, ECU has had 21 players selected in the draft.
Future Pirate Paul Clemens (Louisburg College) who signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join ECU on the diamond for the 2009 season was selected by the Atlanta Braves (Round 7, pick 220)
