GREENVILLE, N.C. - After closing out the 2009 season with a 46-20 overall record, which included its third Super Regional appearance since 2001, the East Carolina baseball team garnered a pair of top 16 national rankings in two major polls.

The Pirates, who claimed its second regular season Conference USA title after posting a 17-7 record, are ranked No. 16 by both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Collegiate Baseball when each of their final polls were announced this week.

This week's rankings marks the longest active streak ranked in at least one poll, 19 consecutive weeks, since the 2001 season when they were also ranked for 19 straight weeks and it is the 13th time in school history the Pirates were ranked in the final polls.
