McDonald And Reynolds Earn All-State Honors

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Juniors Chase McDonald and Drew Reynolds were named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State Baseball Team the organization announced Wednesday. The all-state first and second teams feature 27 players representing eight different North Carolina Universities.
McDonald, who earned First-Team All-Conference USA honors, led the league in home runs (11), RBI (46) and slugging percentage (.519), while batting .299 in 53 starts at first base. McDonald earned his first career Hitter-of-the-Week honors after batting a team-best .500 (8-for-16) with two home runs and six RBI in the Pirates series win over Southern Miss. The Greenville N.C. native capped off the 2012 season being selected in the 12th round by the Houston Astros in the Major League First-Year Player Draft.
Reynolds continued to add postseason honors with his first-team designation as a relief pitcher and second-team selection as the designated hitter. The Cherryville, N.C. native also earned Louisville Slugger Second-Team All-America accolades by Collegiate Baseball.
The utility player, who earned First-Team All-Conference USA and All-Tournament Team, led the Pirates with a .322 average and 68 hits, while ranking second with 13 doubles and fourth with 30 runs scored. On the mound he posted a 3-2 record with a 2.92 ERA and recorded a league and team-best 14 saves, which also ranked 14th nationally.
