East Carolina won its 20th game of the season. Its the first time that the Pirates have won 20 games in a season since joining the ranks of NCAA Division I for the 1965-66 season. The only previous 20-win season in school history was 1953-54 with 23 victories.
The Pirates won their 53rd game in three seasons under head coach Jeff Lebo. Its the most wins in a three-year period in school history. ECU won 52 games from 1994-97 under coached Eddie Payne and Joe Dooley.
The Pirates improved to 15-4 at home this season and 10-1 against non-Conference USA opponents. ECU has won four in a row at home.
ECU improved to 14-3 when leading at halftime this season.
East Carolina improved to 13-2 when holding its opponents to 69 points or less this season and 40-12 under coach Jeff Lebo.
The Pirates blocked six shots on the night to bring their season total to 144, setting a new school record for blocks in a season.
The school record for most 3-point attempts in a season was also established tonight. The Pirates shot 19 3s to bring their season total to 733, breaking the record of 720 set by the 2010-11 squad.
The Pirates were credited with a season-high 14 steals.
ECU held Rider to 27.1 percent shooting. It was the first time that the Pirates have held their opponent to less than 30 percent shooting since limiting Tulane to 24.2 percent from the field in 2010.
Maurice Kemp became the third player in school history to score 600 points in a season. He has exactly 600 points through 32 games. The only other two people to do it were Blue Edwards (773, 1988-89) and Oliver Mack (699, 1977-78).
Kemp scored 20 points for the sixth consecutive game becoming the first ECU player to achieve such streak since Blue Edwards recorded nine-straight 20-point games during the 1988-89 season.
Kemp also scored his 900th career point at ECU. He has scored 914 points as a Pirate. As a freshman he netted 148 points at Alabama A&M. Kemp has a Division I career scoring total of 1,062 points in 89 games.
Kemp grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds, besting his previous career-high mark of 14 set against North Carolina earlier this season.
Miguel Paul handed eight assists to push his NCAA Division I career total to 502 assists. He has handed out 393 during his two years at ECU after distributing 109 in two years at Missouri.
Akeem Richmond made his 100th 3-pointer of the year to become just the 12th player in Conference USA history to make 100 3s in a season.
Prince Williams recorded career highs for points (8), rebounds (7) and free throws made (4).
Ty Armstrong posted his second 20-point game of the season. His 20 points were his most since scoring 22 at Rice on Feb. 2.
