Men's Basketball Suspends Pair For Violation Of Team Rules

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina sophomore forward Darrius Morrow and freshman guard Wakefield Ellison have been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules according to an announcement from head basketball coach Mack McCarthy Wednesday afternoon. Morrow, who currently leads the Pirates in rebounding with a 6.7 average and adds 12.4 points a game, has started all 16 games this season. Ellison has played in 10 contests off the bench and currently owns 1.4 scoring and 0.5 rebounding average. "Darrius and Wakefield have been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules" McCarthy said. The third-year ECU head coach did not address specifics of the suspension, but added "there are conduct standards we have in place and expect those to be followed."
East Carolina (6-10, 0-2 Conference USA) will return to action tonight, facing Memphis in a Conference USA road match-up beginning at 7 p.m. (EST).
