GREENVILLE, N.C. -- With a week to prepare, East Carolina (12-9, 3-7 C-USA) returns to the hardwood Saturday against Saint Louis at 2:10 pm EST at the Savvis Center. The game is the first meeting of the season between the Conference USA American Division rivals.
The game will be televised regionally on ESPN Plus. It will be the Pirates' second appearance on ESPN Plus this year. ECU defeated Marquette at home, 73-70, back in December on the network. John Rooney and Steve Bardo serve as the game's telecasters.
Saturday's game will be East Carolina's first game since defeating Southern Miss, 60-57, at home on Feb. 8 and the Pirates' fourth road game in their past five outings. Derrick Wiley scored a game-high 21 points, including 17 in the second half, and Travis Holcomb-Faye netted 16 points as the Pirates rallied from a nine-point second half deficit to claim a three-point victory.
Saint Louis (9-12, 3-7 C-USA) is coming off an upset victory over second-ranked Louisville, 59-58, at the Savvis Center Wednesday night. Marquee Perry scored 25 points to lead the Billikens past the Cardinals at home for a third consecutive season and the fifth consecutive overall time. Josh Fisher and Chris Sloan scored 11 points each.
East Carolina and Saint Louis are tied with Southern Miss for 11th place in the overall conference standings with a 3-7 league mark. Only the top 12 teams in conference qualify for the league's postseason tournament.
SLU leads the all-time series, 3-1 and has won all three previous meetings at the Savvis Center. East Carolina recorded its lone victory in the series at Minges Coliseum last season, 59-53.
