Maurice Kemp Invited to Participate in Portsmouth Invitational

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - East Carolina senior Maurice Kemp is one of 64 players invited to the 61st annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, April 10-13 in Portsmouth, Va.

The top 64 seniors in college basketball are invited to the four-day, 12-game tournament where scouts from every NBA team monitor the competition for the upcoming 2013 NBA Draft.

Kemp, a native of Miami, Fla., is coming off one of the greatest individual single-season performances in school history, averaging 18.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game to lead the Pirates to their first-ever postseason Division I tournament championship and a school record-tying 23 victories.

Kemp was named First Team All-Conference USA and MVP of the 2013 Postseason Tournament (CIT). He became just the third player in school history to score over 600 points in a season, while setting the ECU single-season record for free throws made (182).
