Men's Basketball Adds Legan To List Of Basketball Signees
June 6, 2007 GREENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina head basketball coach Ricky Stokes has announced the addition of James Legan to the Pirates' program. Legan, a 6-3, 200-pound, guard from Galena Park, Texas, signed a National Letter-of-Intent with ECU during the spring signing period. Legan will have two years of eligibility remaining after playing his first two seasons at Lon Morris College. "We are elated to have James Legan joining our program," said Stokes. "He is a very good shooter with exceptional range and the ability to finish in the paint. James will have a chance to come in and make an immediate contribution. "He comes from an outstanding program at Lon Morris and helped them make a successful run during the [NJCAA] tournament. We believe we are getting a solid player and an exceptional young man that will be a terrific addition to our basketball program." Legan was a second-team All-Region XIV selection this past season, averaging 14.9 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 38 percent from beyond the three-point arc. He scored 19 points in the championship game of the Region XIV tournament to lead Lon Morris to the NJCAA Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. Legan averaged 13.3 points and shot 45 percent (13-of-29) from behind the arc during to lead LMC to a sixth-place finish and help the Bearcats set a NJCAA record for most three-point field goals in a tournament (47). Legan joins four other players who signed NLIs with the Pirates. Jamar Abrams (6-5, 200, G, Richmond, Va.); Daquan Joyner (6-7, 215, F, Goldsboro, N.C.); Jontae Sherrod (6-2, 175, G, Tarboro, N.C.); and Brock Young (5-11, 165, G, Raleigh, N.C.) all signed to join the Pirates for the 2007 fall semester.
