GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Former East Carolina standout Akeem Richmond will participate in a pre-draft workout for the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, June 11.
"I've been working 17 years for this one moment," Richmond said. "I just wanted to thank God for the opportunity. I also want to thank my parents, coach Lebo and his staff, my teammates and everyone at ECU who supported me along the journey."
He finished his career ranked seventh on the all-time NCAA three-point field goals made list with 416, playing his first two seasons at the University of Rhode Island before electing to transfer to ECU. Richmond scored 1,622 points during his four-year collegiate, including 994 during his final two seasons at ECU with 1,248 points coming from outside the arc.
As a senior, Richmond led all NCAA Division I players with 155 made 3-pointers, third-highest single-season total in NCAA history, averaging an NCAA-best 4.56 3s per game. He finished the year with an average of 18.0 points per game and was named Second Team All-Conference USA. He made an ECU, C-USA and C-USA tournament single-game record 11 3-pointers in the first round of the championship event against UTSA, breaking his own school record of 10 set twice earlier in the season.
