GRENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina senior forward Ty Armstrong is currently participating in an Athlete in Action (AIA) Basketball Tour in the Ivory Coast African port city of Abidjan. He is one of 10 NCAA Division I players listed on the roster.
After spending five days at training camp in Xenia, Ohio, the team arrived in Abidjan on Sunday, Aug. 11. The team will play six games during their stay in the African country of Ivory Coast.
Armstrong is joined on the team by Montigo Alford (Southern Alford), Pierra Henry (Charlotte), Jack Isenbarger (Elon), Nick Kellogg (Ohio), Kendall Griffin (Wright State), Sherron Walker (Iowa State), Dwayne Evans (St. Louis), Justin Gant (Indiana State) and Jordan Morgan (Michigan). Athletes In Action Basketball Specialist Morris Michalski is coaching the team and being assisted by Eric Farrell (Dayton) and Mike Lepore (Saint Louis) with CBS lead college basketball analyst Clark Kellogg serving as a Life Coach.
Athletes in Action is a part of (formerly called Campus Crusade for Christ) of Cru. Cru is the name of CCC in the United States. The goal of the tour is to provide a rich cross cultural experience for the student-athletes, to teach them how to share their faith story and encourage others as they serve and compete among some of the world's best athletes.
