GREENVILLE, N.C. --- First-ever visits by Clemson and NC State highlight the 2007-08 East Carolina men's basketball schedule released by University officials Friday. The Pirates will play a school record 19 regular season home games.

Head coach Mack McCarthy opens his first season at the helm on Saturday, Nov. 10 against Limestone. That marks the first of four straight home games to open the season. ECU will then host Richmond on Nov. 13 as part of a doubleheader with the Lady Pirates. The Pirates will then face Liberty (Nov. 17) and North Carolina Wesleyan (Nov. 20) before making their first of only two non-conference road trips.

ECU will make its only true road trip before conference play begins Nov. 24 against USF in Tampa. The Pirates will also participate in the prestigious BB&T Classic against George Mason at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 2.

Following its trip to the nation's capital, ECU will return home to face Clemson on Dec. 5. The Tigers will be just the third Atlantic Coast Conference team ever to visit Minges Coliseum and first since former ACC member South Carolina came to Greenville in 1969. The Pirates will then welcome NC State to Greenville for the first time on Dec. 8. The two teams have met 17 times previously with all games being played in Raleigh.

Arch-rival UNC Wilmington returns to Greenville for the second time since ECU departed the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) on Dec. 22 to close out the fall semester. Winthrop (Nov. 28), Lee (Dec. 29), Coastal Carolina (Jan. 2) and North Carolina Central (Jan. 5) will also visit Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

East Carolina begins its seventh season as a member of Conference USA on Jan. 9 at preseason No. 1 Memphis. It'll be the first of two trips to the city of Memphis as the conference tournament will be held at the FedEx Forum beginning March 12.

The Pirates' 16-game Conference USA schedule includes home-and-home series against Marshall, UCF, Tulane, Rice, and Southern Miss. ECU will also host conference foes Tulsa (Feb. 13), SMU (Feb. 27) and Houston (March 1). Other conference road games include trips to UAB (Jan. 23) and UTEP (Feb. 23).
