Things To Know About The Game
•East Carolina is going after its fifth consecutive win to start the season for the first time since the 2002-03 season. The Pirates are coming off an 82-72 win at home on Tuesday.
•ECU is playing its first road game of the year after opening the season with four in-a-row at home. Four of the Pirates remaining six games are on the road (Georgia State, Charlotte, North Carolina, UMass).
•Monday's game marks the first meeting between the Pirates and Panthers since 1974. ECU won that game in Greenville, 88-79.
•The Pirates are 2-6 on the road in true road games the last two seasons with their wins coming at N.C. Central and UNCG.
•East Carolina has won nine consecutive non-conference games dating back to last season.
•Senior Miguel Paul needs eight assists to become the 14th player in school history with 200 career helpers.
•Senior Maurice Kemp will be looking to record a third-straight double-double for the second time in his career. He posted three consecutive double-doubles last season in games against Gardner-Webb, N.C. Central and Virginia-Wise.

Scouting Georgia State
•The Panthers have won three consecutive games at home after dropping their first two games of the season on the road at Duke and BYU.
•Devonta White, the team's leading scorer (15.4 ppg) was a preseason second-team All-CAA selection.
•GSU sank 11-of-18 3-point field goals in its last game against South Alabama.
•White (9-22) and Virginia Tech transfer Manny Atkins (8-17) are shooting a combined 43.6-percent from behind the arc (17-39).
•Atkins has scored more than 20 points in a game twice this season (26 vs. South Alabama, 21 vs. BYU).
•James Vincent is averaging 3.2 blocks per game, ranking 10th in the nation (ESPN.com as of 11/23/12).
•R.J. Hunter, son of head coach Ron Hunter, leads the team in rebounding with 6.2 rpg.

•ECU assistant coach Michael Perry served as Georgia State head coach from 2003-07, after serving as an assistant coach at GSU under "Lefty" Drissell from 1997-2002.
•GSU assistant coach Darryl LaBarrie served as an assistant coach at East Carolina for two seasons (2007-09).

Looking For A 5-0 Start
•The Pirates will be looking to start their season 4-0 for the first time since the 2002-03 campaign when they opened up with seven straight wins. Its the only time in the school's DI era that ECU has started the year 5-0. ECU also opened the 1953-54 season with seven straight wins and the 1954-55 season with six victories.
•Coach Jeff Lebo has started a season 5-0 just once previously as a head coach with his 2004-05 Auburn team winning its first five games.

Early Season Notes, Streaks And Trends
•East Carolina has started the 2012-13 season with four straight home wins, marking the fifth time since the turn of the millennium that it won its first four home games.
•Senior Maurice Kemp is the lone player to score double figures in each of the first four games (19 vs. Washington & Lee, 21 vs. Methodist, 16 vs. UNCG, 21 vs. Appalachian State).
•The Pirates have shot over 50 percent from the floor during one half of each of the first four games.
•More than 58 percent of ECU's points have come inside the arc this season (186-of-317). Last season, only 47.8-percent of its points came inside the 3-point line (1022-of-2136).
•Six players (Paul, Kemp, Guilmette, Torlak, Bowden, Gaines) on the team have more assists than turnovers and three (Kemp, Richmond, Torlak) have more steals than turnovers. The Pirates had more assists than turnovers in each game and more steals than turnovers in the first two games.
•A double-double has been recorded the last three games. Maurice Kemp and Robert Sampson each posted a double-double against Appalachian State. Sampson also had a double-double against Methodist, while Kemp registered one against UNCG.

Leftover From The Appalachian State Game
•The Pirates defeated Appalachian State for the second straight season and for the seventh time in the last 10 meetings.
•ECU held the lead for the final 36:48.
•East Carolina improved to 6-1 against Division I opponents when scoring 80 or more points under Jeff Lebo and 9-1 against all opponents.
•ECU improved to 11-1 at home in the month of November under coach Jeff Lebo.
•The Pirates recorded double digit steals (10) for the third time in four games this season.
•Maurice Kemp posted his second 20-point game and second double-double of the season. Kemp also blocked a career-high four shots.
•Robert Sampson grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds. It was the most since Erroyl Bing grabbed an ECU record 24 against South Florida in 2003.
•Kemp and Sampson each recorded a double-double, marking the first time that two players turned the trick since the 2011-12 season opener against Milligan (Kemp and Austin Steed).
•Miguel Paul scored 14 points to surpass the 500-point milestone. Paul has scored 508 points in 33 games played at ECU (15.4 ppg).

Sampson Grabs 18 Boards
•Robert Sampson grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds. It was the most since Erroyl Bing grabbed an ECU record 24 against South Florida in 2003.
•Sampson is just the fifth different player in the last 10 years to grab 15 rebounds for the Pirates (Erroyl Bing 5, Corey Rouse 3, Moussa Badiane 2, Gabe Blair 1).
•Robert Sampson was just four rebounds shy of matching his legendary father's (Ralph) collegiate career-best of 22 against Old Dominion in 1979.

Guilmette Earns Weekly Freshman Honor
•Marshall Guilmette was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week for the week ending Nov. 18. He is just the second player in ECU history to win the weekly award (Darrius Morrow, 2009).
•Guilmette helped to a 2-0 week with wins over Methodist and UNCG. The Kennesaw, Ga. native averaged 9.5 points and seven rebounds in the two wins, while shooting a combined 61.5 percent (8-13) from the field.
•He scored double figures for the second in three games this season with 10 points against UNCG to go along with five rebounds and a team-four assists. Earlier in the week against Methodist, he narrowly missed recording his first career double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

• ECU will head to the Queen City on Saturday to face the Charlotte 49ers at Halton Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be televised throughout eastern North Carolina on WITN.
