ECU Opens Fourth and Final Week of Spring Drills

Has earned a quick climb on the defensive depth chart with possession of top reserve status at the "buck" inside linebacking position after just two years in the East Carolina program ... Wrapped up spring action as Kyle Tudor's backup, but could also experience considerable action as a top-tier special teams performer for the third consecutive season ... Brings plenty of athleticism, physicality and quickness to an already-deep talent pool within unit ... Initially joined Pirates as an invited walk-on during the summer of 2011 and made his collegiate debut in early October after competing at the prep school level just a year earlier ... Collected one tackle during the first spring scrimmage on April 6, but was not credited with any statistics in the second tilt a week later ... Tallied a pair of stops during the Purple-Gold Game (April 20) to close out the practice period ... Clocked at 4.73 in the 40, booked a vertical leap of 29.5", a broad jump of 102.5" and produced a back squat of 495 pounds and a bench press of 300 pounds during strength and conditioning testing.

2012: Experienced playing time in 10 of 13 games, mostly as a special teams contributor ... Booked only tackle on a kickoff return against UTEP during the Pirates' 28-18 Conference USA victory at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on Sept. 29 ... Did not play in contests vs. Memphis, Houston and Tulane.

2011: A true freshman who had redshirt removed during the Houston contest and played in five consecutive games against the Cougars, Memphis, Navy, Tulane and Southern Miss ... Suffered a right knee injury against the Golden Eagles and missed the final three contests of the year ... Experienced action primarily on special teams, but saw extensive action as a reserve linebacker at Houston ... Booked nine tackles with six solo stops and one hit behind the line of scrimmage during the campaign ... Tallied four hits on rushing plays, three on passes and two on kickoff returns ... Registered career-high six tackles and a personal-best three solo stops during debut versus the Cougars ... Stopped UH's Michael Hayes for a three-yard loss in the third quarter for first career TFL ... Brought down Houston's Tyron Carrier after a 10-yard catch in the second frame for first career stop ... Made initial solo hit on the next play, halting Hayes after a one-yard rush ... Credited with two solo hits at Memphis, one on a second-quarter kickoff return by Bakari Hollier and the other following a three-yard rush by Taylor Reed during the Tigers' final drive of the contest ... Booked year's final stop at Navy, knocking down Marcus Thomas following an 18-yard kickoff runback in the second frame.

Prep School: Spent one year at Hargrave Military Academy, helping the Cadets to a perfect 8-0 record ... Part of a defensive unit that posted four shutouts and allowed just 44 total points in seven games played (one victory by forfeit) ... Recovered a blocked punt against Newberry ... Played for head coach Troy Davis ... Originally committed to Navy following stint at Hargrave.

High School: Helped Northwestern High School to a 9-6 record and a perfect 5-0 mark in AAAA Region III play as a senior team captain ... Spartans rallied from a 1-5 start (0-4 to open season) to win eight games in a row and advance deep into the playoffs under the direction of Jimmy "Moose" Wallace ... A three-year letterman who was selected to play for the South Carolina squad in the 2009 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas contest ... Also lettered in basketball, earning Fox Charlotte Sonic Scholar Athlete-of-the-Week honors on Feb. 17, 2010.
