A leading candidate to contend for the Pirates' top running back job this fall after admirably serving as top backup during his first season in the East Carolina program a year ago ... A Preseason All-American Athletic Conference (second-team) choice by Athlon Sports ... Closed spring drills battling Chris Hairston for the starting nod and coaches expect competition to continue throughout preseason camp and into the fall ... Picked up 29 yards on three carries during the first spring scrimmage on March 31 ... After rushing for nine yards on three attempts and making a three-yard reception during a pass-oriented second contest (April 5), closed out spring action with a three-carry, 12-yard outing in the Purple-Gold Game on April 12 ... Strength and conditioning testing numbers of note include a back squat of 500 pounds, a push jerk of 242 pounds, a 40 time of 4.46 and a vertical jump of 34" (tops among all running backs) ... Became the first Snow running back in school history to top all NJCAA rushers in yards (1,632) and ground touchdowns (20) ... Also selected as the Western States Football League Offensive Player-of-the-Year in 2012 ...
