Sharp Passing Effort, Rush Defense Dominates Second Scrimmage

A personal playmaker who provides another compelling entry in East Carolina’s walk-on success story - especially from the linebacking unit … Has risen from scout team contributor to a viable two-deep standing as national honors candidate Zeek Bigger’s top backup at the “mike” inside linebacker position … Could also experience added playing time on kicking units as a blocker and coverage specialist … Overall, has played in nine career games and booked nine tackles (three solo) … Has collected multiple tackle totals on three occasions … Played in two bowl games … Tallied a tackle during the first spring scrimmage (March 28) … Logged two more hits in the second matchup on April 11 … Credited with three stops during the Purple-Gold Game on April 18 … Did not participate in the strength phase of the spring testing period (for the second-straight year) because of injury … Agility evaluation was documented with a 32” vertical jump, a 7’6” broad jump, a pro-shuttle time of 4.21 and an impressive three-cone drill clip of 7.05 … As previously mentioned, initially earned roster position as a walk-on during the spring of 2013.

2014: Appeared in seven games, primarily as a member of special teams unit ... Experienced action vs. N.C. Central, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tulane, Tulsa, UCF and Florida (Birmingham Bowl) … Recorded seven tackles (two solo), with a career-best four against the Green Wave at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium ... Three of seven stops came on kickoff coverage squad ... Forced first career fumble and credited with a pass breakup against Tulane ... Other multi-stop outing against N.C. Central (two) in season opener … Also logged single hit vs. UCF.

2013: Quick development enabled move from walk-on status to game-day participant in a span of less than eight months … Played in two games during inaugural campaign in the ECU program – UAB and Ohio (Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl) … Recorded first collegiate tackles (two) vs. Blazers … One hit came on a rushing play, the other on a pass completion … Did not record any statistics against the Bobcats at Tropicana Field.

High School: A three-year football letterman for coach Sean Crocker at Middle Creek … Tallied 129 total tackles (104 solo), 15 TFLs, one sack, two pass breakups, one interception and two forced fumbles to earn first-team all-conference honors as a senior in 2011 … Logged 92 stops (77 solo) and 13 TFLs during junior season … Also added six pass breakups and a pair of forced fumbles on the way to all-conference (honorable mention) accolades in 2010 … Picked up three additional varsity letters as a lacrosse starting defenseman who helped lead MCHS to a third-round playoff appearance as a junior.
