Head Football Coach Ruffin McNeill Discusses The Upcoming Memphis Game
Former Texas Tech three-year letterman Landon Hoefer reunited with former Red Raider players and coaches when he joined the East Carolina football program in January of 2010 as an offensive staff assistant and will begin his second official season with the Pirates this spring.
Prior to his appointment at ECU, Hoefer served as an administrative intern on the defensive side of the ball for Conference USA-member Memphis during the 2009 campaign. Although he still had one season of eligibility remaining as a receiver at Texas Tech, he accepted a position on former Tiger coach Tommy West's staff during fall camp.
Before experiencing action against Oklahoma in 2008 as a junior, Hoefer played in two games as a sophomore in 2007 - catching his first collegiate pass against Northwestern State. He served a valuable scout team role in Mike Leach's program during his career, which enabled him to be in a preparation leadership role for the Red Raiders and their vaunted passing attack.
Hoefer, 24, earned all-district honors as a receiver for coach Randy Quisenberry at Abilene's (Texas) Cooper High School. In addition, he earned letters as an all-district outfielder for the Cougars' baseball team during his prep career.
A native of Abilene, Hoefer earned a bachelor's degree in exercise and sport science from TTU in December 2008 and began work on his master's degree before transferring to ECU.
