Expected to return to the Pirates’ depth chart in 2016 following a non-traditional redshirt campaign that was precipitated by a nagging left leg injury … Appears to have bounced back in strong fashion under new coaching staff and should be in a position to compete for two-deep status at one of the inside linebacking spots or as a top-tier member of various special teams units … A fundamentally-sound and intense tackler who was thrown into the fire as a true freshman in 2014 when he provided ECU with additional depth at linebacker and as a special teams stalwart … Enjoyed active spring scrimmage performances, booking five stops during the first outing on April 9 before following with four hits in the Purple-Gold Game (April 16) … Turned in an award-winning effort in the strength and conditioning program’s spring testing phase, earning MVP honors, an “excellent” rating (power quotient) and “Super Pirate” status … Ranked among top 10 percent of position in the bench press (435 pounds), back squat (600), 40-yard dash (4.54), vertical jump (36”), broad jump (10’), three-cone drill (6.98) and flex rating (14) … Other numbers of note include a 318-pound power clean, a push jerk of 318, 25 reps of 225 pounds on the bench and a pro shuttle clip of 4.2.

2014: Played 12 games as a member of special teams units (DNP vs. North Carolina) ... Made collegiate debut against N.C. Central in the Pirates’ season opener ... Booked nine tackles (three solo), all on special teams (eight on kickoff returns, one on a punt return) … Nine tackle total ranked second among all special teams players … Recorded at least one tackle in four contests … Booked multiple-stops on three occasions … Credited with a career-best three hits twice (at Cincinnati, at Tulsa) ... Other multi-tackle game was against Connecticut at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium ... Finished year on a high note, racking up seven stops in the last five games (only two in first seven outings) … Officially inked with ECU during the traditional signing day (period) in February.
