A high-impact and physical defender who is nearing the completion of a remarkable comeback after missing the entire 2014 season recovering from serious injuries suffered during an automobile accident earlier that winter (Feb. 12) … Was on the way to an early morning strength and condition session when the mishap occurred on U.S. Highway 264 Alternate … Was transported to Vidant Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition before his release from the hospital weeks later … Completed rehabilitation from injuries sustained in accident prior to spring workouts approximately 13 months after wreck … Spent spring season and summer getting into playing shape to handle daily rigors of college football on the Division I level … National media is confident of full return as evidenced by Preseason All-American Athletic Conference selection by Phil Steele Magazine (second-team) and Athlon Sports (fourth-team) … Was initially expected to be a conference, if not national, post-season awards candidate at the end position heading into his junior season after a stellar sophomore campaign (before accident occurred) … Coaches have listed him at the top of the two-deep at boundary end to open preseason camps … Has played in 26 career games with 13 starts and booked multiple tackles in 21 contests … Has also registered at least one stop in 18-straight outings dating back to the Navy tilt in 2012 … Logged a pair of tackles, (including one for a two-yard loss) in the first spring scrimmage (March 28) … Did not record any statistics in the second tilt, but closed out spring work with two hits and another stop for lost yardage during the Purple-Gold Game on April 18 … Was considered a standout performer in ECU’s strength program before the setback, but regained “excellent” rating in coach Jeff Connors testing scale during the spring of 2015 … Recorded leaps of 32.5” (vertical) and 9’1” (broad), in addition to lifts of 400 pounds (bench press), 575 (back squat) and 300 (power clean) … A pro-shuttle time of 4.43 and three-cone drill clip of 7.37 are also considered noteworthy.
