Sharp Passing Effort, Rush Defense Dominates Second Scrimmage
Should continue to contribute quality depth and contend for significant playing time in the Pirate secondary and on special teams during his second season on ECU’s active roster as a sophomore … Offers a multitude of speed, quickness and a certain savvy to the cornerback position and on coverage teams … Will open preseason camps with a two-deep standing as a reserve behind Josh Hawkins at the field cornerback position … Recorded one stop in the first and second spring scrimmages on March 28 and April 11, respectively … Added a pass deflection in the second outing as well … Netted an interception and made a tackle in the Purple-Gold Game on April 18 to close out drills … Produced one of the unit’s fastest 40 times during spring strength and conditioning testing with a clip of 4.41 … Power numbers are still in the developmental stage, but did record a broad jump of 9’11” which ranked among the top half of the secondary … Also competes as a member of ECU’s track and field program.
2014: Made collegiate debut in season opener against N.C. Central at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, but was not credited with any statistics … Did not appear in any other contests the remainder of the year.
2013: Spent true freshman campaign on the scout unit as a redshirt … Signed with the ECU program in February.
High School: Recorded 34 receptions for 858 yards and 10 touchdowns as one of Patrick Henry High School's top pass catchers while also starting in the Patriots secondary on defense in 2012 ... His 25.2 yards-per-catch average ranked second in the Central Region ... Named First-Team All-Central Region (WR) by VirginiaPreps.com and the Richmond Times Dispatch as a senior ... Also earned second-team All-Metro honors as a wide receiver and was a First-Team All-Colonial District by the Richmond Times Dispatch as a defensive back and wide receiver ... Scored at least one offensive touchdown in six of 10 games and posted 100-yard receiving games on five occasions ... Caught a season-long 75-yard touchdown pass against Ashland (Sept. 15) and followed that with a 65-yarder on the way to a six-catch, 142-yard performance against Lee-Davis (Sept. 22) ... Against John Marshall (Sept. 28), caught four passes for 132 yards and three scores (9, 55, 61) ... Hauled in a 55-yard TD pass against Douglas Freeman to cap the night with 138 receiving yards (Oct. 5) ... Posted his second three-score game of the season against Deep Run (Oct. 12) and finished the contest with 138 yards ... Returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown against Thomas Jefferson (Oct. 22) and scored on a 32-yard pass play in the second quarter against Mills Godwin (Nov. 2) ... Also a decorated track and field athlete who turned in personal-best times to place second at the state finals in the 110-meter hurdles (14.03) and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (39.05) during junior campaign ...
