All-Time Defensive Unit (First-Team)

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina Head Coach Ruffin McNeill along with five of the school's all-time leading tacklers (Van Eskridge, Pernell Griffin, Robert Jones, Jeff Kerr and Zack Valentine) have been named by the fans as members of the All-Time Defensive Team during a recent vote celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

First-Team Defense

Defensive Line - Rod Coleman (1995-98)
Holds six sack records at ECU, including single-game (4 vs. WFU, 1997), season (15 in '97, fourth nationally) and career (39) ... First-Team All-Conference USA as a senior ... Participated in the 1998 Senior Bowl and East-West Shrine Game ... Fifth round draft pick by the Oakland Raiders in 1999 and helped them to the 2002 AFC title and Super Bowl XXXVII appearance ... 2005 Pro Bowl and two-time All-Pro selection (2004-05).

Defensive Line - Linval Joseph (2007-09)
Three-year letterwinner that played in 41 games making 27 starts ... Key member of back-to-back Conference USA Championship squads (2008-09) ...
