Hurricane Charley Washes Out Media Day

GREENVILLE, N.C. The effects of Hurricane Charley throughout Eastern North Carolina caused East Carolina University officials to postpone the school's annual football "Media Day" Saturday afternoon. A new date is yet to be determined.

The weather cooperated long enough Saturday morning for the Pirates to get in their first practice of the season in full pads. Driving rains forced the team inside briefly, but lessened later on to allow the team to return to practice.

"Hopefully what we do out here makes us all better because of what we do and how we do it," stated Thompson. "We went through this last year, when we were getting ready to play Wake Forest."

East Carolina will practice as a full unit for the first time Sunday afternoon in preparation for its first scrimmage of the season Tuesday afternoon at Dowdy-Ficklen.
