GREENVILLE, N.C. - With only three days remaining before kickoff, East Carolina is approaching capacity status for its meeting against Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia Tech as less than 2,000 tickets are now available for the 12 noon contest at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
The Pirates' clash against the Hokies Saturday, which will complete ECU's historic season-opening three-game homestand, has driven a high volume of ticket sales so far this week. The two programs have squared off against each other five times in the last six years, including two recent defensive battles in Greenville during the 2009 and 2011 seasons.
ECU students and Pirate fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets soon due to the dwindling number available. General public orders may be placed through ECU's Online Ticket Center or by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at (252) 737-4500. ECU Students may order online at www.ecupirates.com/students or in person at the Minges Box Office and Central Ticket Office from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
East Carolina will be shooting for its ninth sell-out crowd since a 7,000-seat expansion pushed Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium's capacity to 50,000 in 2010. The Pirates' single-game attendance record was established in 2011 when 50,610 watched ECU host North Carolina.
