Nov. 13, 2006
IRVING, Texas - East Carolina senior placekicker Robert Lee was named Conference USA Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for his play against Marshall in the Pirates' 33-20 home finale win according to a release from the league media relations office Monday afternoon.
A native of Longview, Texas, Lee connected on a career-high four field goals that proved to be the difference in the Pirates win. He drilled threes from 21, 22, 38 and 42 yards out, one in each quarter of play. In addition, his three PAT's on the day extended his ECU school-record to 48 consecutive PAT's made and his career streak to 76 (48 at ECU and 28 at Trinity Community College).
Lee's four field goals represented the ninth multi-FG game of his career (3 vs. WVU, 2 each vs. WFU, Rice, UCF, Tulsa and Marshall in 2005, 2 vs. UAB and 3 vs. UCF in 2006). Lee also established a new personal-best with 15 total points in the contest.
Joining Lee as Players-of-the-Week were Anthony Alridge (RB, Houston) and Phillip Hunt (DE, Houston).
The Pirates will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Houston, Texas to take on Rice at 3 p.m. (EST) inside Rice Stadium.
