PONTE VERDA BEACH, Fla. --- The East Carolina men's golf team posted a two-round score of 611 (+35) and sits in seventh-place after 36 holes at the Sea Best Invitational held at the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. The Pirates were alone in fifth-place after the round (306, +18), but slipped to seventh despite recording a lower score (305, +17) during the second round.
Freshman Grayson Murray posted the best two-round score of the day for the Pirates at 8-over 152 and finished tied for 19th. Murray posted a 2-under 70 in the first round to hold a share of the lead, before carding a 10-over 82 in Monday's second round.
Senior Ryan Eibner posted ECU's second-best two round score of the day with a 10-over 154 (+10). During the first round, Eibner was just 1-over thru his first 12 holes before recording a double bogey and two bogeys during his final six holes of the round to finish with a 4-over 76. His second round began and ended with a double bogey with two birdies and triple bogey sandwiched between as he finished with a 6-over 78. He concluded the second round tied for 29th.
Tennessee finished the day with the overall team lead at 3-over 579 (300-279). Texas A&M is in second-place at 9-over 585 (289-296). The overall individual lead belongs to the Volunteers' Rick Lamb, who fired a 9-under 135 (70-65).
The Pirates will look to bounce back tomorrow and climb the tournament standings when they complete the third and final round beginning at 8 a.m.
