Pirates Finish Fifth At General Hackler Championships

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. --- The East Carolina men's golf team carded a final round total of 16-over 304 Tuesday to finish fifth at the 2014 General Hackler Championship held at TPC of Myrtle Beach. It was the Pirates' fifth top-5 finish in eight tournaments this season.

Middle Tennessee captured the team title with a final tally of 20-over 884, winning by two strokes over No. 23 Kent State (+22). Iowa State (+26), East Tennessee State (+32) and East Carolina (+33) completed the top five. Individual medalist honors were shared by Coastal Carolina's Andrew Dorn and Kent State's Corey Connors, who each shot par 216.

Rounding out the rest of the team standings were Louisville (+36), Lamar (+39), Coastal Carolina (+41), Duke (+49), North Carolina (+69), UNC Wilmington (+73) and Northern Illinois (+100).

Leading the way for the Pirates was senior Ryan Eibner with a final score of seven-over par, 223, to tie him for 14th place. After shooting 74 in each of the first two rounds, he shot three-over 75 in the third round. Fellow senior Eric Brady repeated his first round performance with a round three 77 to finish one stroke behind his teammate, tied for 17th at eight-over 224.

Sophomore Wes Conover carded a third round score of seven-over 79 to finish tied for 21st at 11-over 227. Redshirt sophomore Al Dickens saved his best round for the final day, finishing with a one-over 73. Dickens wrapped up the tournament tied for 26th at 13-over 229. Sophomore George Kilgore tied for 32nd at 18-over 230 to round out the Pirates' lineup.

East Carolina will return to action Sunday, March 16, at the Seahawk Invitational at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
