TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --- The East Carolina men's golf team is in seventh-place after 18 holes on Friday in the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Southwood Golf Course. The Pirates shot par 288.
Freshman led the Pirates at 2-under 70 in the opening round. He made four birdies and two bogeys to go along with 14 pars and is tied for ninth, five strokes behind South Florida's Chase Koepka, who leads the field at 7-under 65.
Senior Zach Edmondson sits one stroke behind his teammate tied for 13th at 1-under 71. Junior Ryan Eibner shot par-72 to complete round one tied for 26th. Fellow junior Eric Brady fired a 3-over 75, while freshman Jacob Hicks carded a 5-over 77.
Redshirt freshman Al Dickens, playing as an individual, also carded a 3-over 75.
Florida State ended the day in front at 277 (-11). It has a one-shot lead over Mississippi State (278) in second and three-stroke cushion over Coastal Carolina at 280 (-8).
The Pirates return to action Saturday morning, with their first tee times set for 9:26 a.m.
