Pirates Tied For 10th After First Round of C-USA Championships

TEXARKANA, Ark. - After shooting a composite score of 298, the East Carolina men's golf team is tied for 10th-place after 18 holes of the Conference USA Championships Sunday at the Texarkana Country Club.
SMU leads the field by seven strokes after round one, shooting 10-under 278. UCF is in second-place at 3-under 285 followed by Houston at 2-under 286 in third-place.
SMU senior Mario Clemens and freshman Bryson Dechambeau both finished the day four-under, and are tied atop the leaderboard with Houston junior Curtis Reed and UTEP sophomore Martin Simonsen. Clemens, Dechambeau and Reed each carded five birdies on the day, while Simonsen tallied six.
Junior Eric Brady leads the Pirates at 1-over 73, tied for 23rd. Fellow junior Ryan Eibner is one stroke behind is teammate at 2-over 74 in 28th place. Freshman George Kilgore carded a 3-over 75 in his first C-USA Championships round, while rookie Stephen Lavenets fired a 4-over 76. Senior Zach Edmondson shot 9-over 91.
ECU will continue the second round of the tournament on Monday morning with tee times starting at 9:30 a.m. EDT.
