Pirates Season Ends With 10th-Place Finish At C-USA Championships

TEXARKANA, Ark. --- The East Carolina men's golf team wrapped up its 2012-13 season with a 10th-place finish at the Conference USA Championships on Tuesday at the par-72, 6,935-yard Texarkana Country Club.
The Pirates carded a collective 304 on day three and fell one spot in the final standings to finish 10th out of 12 teams with a 36-over 900 (298-298-304). Houston took home the team title with a 7-under 857 (286-280-291). SMU finished in second-place at 4-under 860 (278-288-294) followed by UCF in third at 1-under 863 (285-291-287).
UAB, Marshall and Tulsa finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, to round out the top half of the field. UTEP and Memphis followed in seventh and eighth with Southern Miss finishing 10strokes ahead of ECU in ninth-place. Rice and Old Dominion rounded out the field in order.
Junior Ryan Eibner, who finished day one tied for 28th, fired a team-best 2-under 70 Tuesday, posting his best round of the championships to finish tied for 10th at 2-over 218 (74-74-70). Junior Eric Brady carded a 3-over 75 on day three to tie for 18th with a 54-hole score of 4-over 220 (73-72-75).
Freshman George Kilgore finished tied for 48th at 14-over 230 (75-77-78) with fellow classmate Stephen Lavenets tying for 54th at 234 (76-75-83). Senior Zach Edmondson, who helped the Pirates reach the NCAA Championship finals in 2012, carded a three-round tally of 28-over 244 (81-82-81) to close out his collegiate career with a 60th-place finish.
Houston's Roman Robledo held his day second round lead with a 1-under 71 on Tuesday to take home individual medalist honors while SMU's Bryson Dechambeau came in just two strokes behind. Robledo completed the tournament at 8-under 208.
