EDMOND, Okla. - A final round score of 15-over 295 on Tuesday capped the final appearance for the East Carolina University men's golf team in the Conference USA Championship tournament. The Pirates posted a solo eighth place finish at the Oak Tree Country Club with a 54-hole team total of 887 (308-284-295).
Rice captured the C-USA Championship team title after closing with a 6-over-par score of 286 on Tuesday, claiming a one-stroke victory at 21-over 861 (293-282-286). Tulsa's Matt Mabry took individual medalist honors at 1-under-par 209 (70-69-70).
ECU redshirt sophomore Al Dickens missed his first career top-10 finish by a single stroke, tying for 12th at 8-over 218 (73-71-74). Dickens birdied the first hole of the final round and pared 13 of the remaining 17 holes with three bogeys and one double bogey. Fellow sophomore George Kilgore fired a 5-over 75 Tuesday and finished tied for 22nd at 10-over 280 (73-72-75).
Senior Eric Brady closed out his ECU career by shooting a 3-over 73 to finish tied for 28th at 11-over 211 (80-68-73). He stood at par through 13 holes before posting three straight bogeys and paring the final hole to end his round. He completed his eligibility with a career clip of 73.76, sixth-lowest scoring average in program history.
Jacob Hicks, another of four sophomores on the Pirates' five-man tournament roster, also fired a 3-over 73 Tuesday and tied for 55th overall at 232 (82-77-73). Classmate Wes Conover carded a 9-over 79 to complete the tournament.
