MANKIN-SABOT, Va. --- The East Carolina men's golf team fired an 11-over 299 Tuesday to finish in seventh-place at the 2012 VCU Shootout at the par-72, 6,955-yard Hermitage Golf Club. ECU finished with 54-hole total of 44-over 908 (303-306-299), 30 strokes behind team championship Virginia Tech (292-295-291=878), which finished at 14-over.
ECU senior Zach Edmondson posted a 2-under 70 on the final 18 holes at finish at 6-over 222 (75-77-70). Edmondson began his final round with four straight pars before recording his first of three third round birdies. After bogeying the final hole of the back-9, Edmondson recorded eight consecutive pars and concluded his round with two birdies on the final four holes. He finished with a tournament -best 42 pars.
Juniors Eric Brady (75-76-76) and Ryan Eibner (75-75-77) tied for 27th at 11-over 227. Brady carded a 4-over 76 Tuesday, while Eibner shot 5-over 77. Freshman Stephen Lavenets finished 10 strokes behind his teammates, tied for 52nd at 21-over 237 (78-78-81), while senior Matt Kocolowski tied for 54th at 22-over 238 (75-81-82). Redshirt freshman Al Dickens completed his first collegiate tournament tied for 61st at 25-over (82-83-76).
Maryland's Sean Bosdosh claimed individual medalist honors at 4-under 212 (70-71-71). Iowa State's Scott Fernandez (72-70-72) and Long Beach State's Raymond Ho (71-71-72) tied for second at 2-under 214.
