RALEIGH, N.C. - The East Carolina men's golf team finished in fourth-place at the 2013 Wolfpack Intercollegiate. The Pirates shot 17-over-par 305 in Tuesday's final round on the Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
ECU (+7, 288-278-305=871) started the day in third-place, but NC State (+1; 285-284-296=865) shot 8-over to jump ahead of the Pirates. East Tennessee State (-21, 276-281-286=843), who began the day in second-place, was 14 strokes better than UNCG (-10; 276-278-300=854) Tuesday and overtook the Spartans by 11 strokes to win the tournament. UNC Wilmington finished at 8-over to round out the top five.
Sophomore George Kilgore (E; 69-69-78=216) tied for 11th to earn his first career top-20 finish. Kilgore shot 6-over on the day, but posted the lowest 54-hole score of his career.
Senior Ryan Eibner (+2; 70-72-76=218) tied for 18th, while sophomore Al Dickens (+3, 73-69-77=218) and Stephen Lavenets (+2: 76-71-72=218), playing as an individual, tied for 23rd. Sophomore Wes Conover tied for 27th at 4-over-par 220 and senior Eric Brady finished tied for 57th-place.
Lavenets and Conover led the Pirates with 12 birdies each.
The Pirates' next tournament is the Rod Meyers Intercollegiate, which will be held at the Duke Golf Club in Durham. The two-day, 54-hole event begins October 12.
