RALEIGH, N.C. --- After two rounds of play at the 2012 Wolfpack Intercollegiate, the East Carolina men's golf team sits alone in first-place at 1-over 577, holding a one-stroke lead over second-place North Carolina at the par-72, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course on the Centennial Campus at NC State University.
The Pirates shot a tournament-best 3-under 285 in the second round to move atop the leader board after carding a 4-over 292 in round one. Junior Eric Brady and senior Zach Edmondson both shot under-par in round two, while senior Ryan Eibner and freshman Stephen Lavenets shot even-par.
Edmondson is tied for third at 1-under 143 (73-70), one stroke behind individual leaders Andrew McCain (71-71=142) of Maryland and Western Carolina's J.T. Poston (74-68=142). Edmondson recorded six birdies in round two, including four on the back nine. NC State's Albin Choi is tied with Edmondson for third.
Brady and Eibner are part of a seven-way tie for fifth-place at even-par 144. Brady opened the tournament with a first round 73, followed by a second round 71. Brady finished the first two rounds with nine total birdies, recording six in round two. Eibner was the Pirate's most consistent player, posting two rounds of par-72.
Lavenets rebounded for a first round 4-over 76 with a par-72 during the second round to move him from 44th after 18 holes into 25th through 36 holes. Redshirt freshman Al Dickens (74-77=151) and true freshman Jacob Hicks (75-76=151) are tied for 42nd at 7-over.
Host NC State is in a distance third-place at 11-over 587, followed by Maryland and Western Carolina tied for fourth-place at 13-over 589.
