GREENVILLE, N.C. --- The East Carolina men's golf team is set to open its 2014 spring season Feb. 3-4 at the Sea Best Invitational hosted by Jacksonville University at TPC Sawgrass on THE PLAYERS Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

The tournament format will include 36 holes on Monday, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday. Play will commence Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.

The field is comprised of 2013 champion Tennessee, 2013 runner-up Texas A&M, two-time tournament champion Florida along with Cal Poly, East Tennessee State, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, Liberty, North Florida, Old Dominion, Pepperdine, USC-Upstate and Winthrop.

Senior Eric Brady, sophomore Wes Conover, Al Dickens and George Kilgore will represent ECU in the first tournament of the spring along with freshman Clay Brown. The Pirates have been paired with North Florida and Winthrop for the first two rounds.

"Being the first event of the spring, we would like to get off to a good start," ECU Head Coach Press McPhaul stated. "We were able to identify areas for improvement at the end of the fall and this is our first chance to evaluate that improvement in competitive mindset and wedge play.

"TPC is a special opportunity and challenge. Weather back home required us to alter our normal preparation. We do have some guys who aren't scared to compete and I expect to see them respond to the challenge."

The Pirates finished the 2013 fall season with a third-place finish at the Pirate Intercollegiate on the Brook Valley Course at Greenville Country Club. Brady earned individual medalist honors to close out the semester. The Pirates are currently 67th in the Golfstat.com rankings.

Last season, the ECU finished fourth overall at 36-over par. Brady, the only member of the Pirates' 2014 tournament roster to compete in the event a year ago, fired a 9-over to finish tied for 14th.
