Junior Robin Smith Paces Pirates In First Round Of Bradford Intercollegiate
03/18/2005 GREENVILLE, N.C.– East Carolina junior Robin Smith fired a three-under par 69 (37-32) and currently sits in a tie for fourth place at the 10th Annual Bradford Creek Intercollegiate, while Brandon Pace, Adam Howell and Chris Ault are three strokes behind (72) tied for 17th. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 7,120-yard Bradford Creek Golf Course. Due to heavy rains this week, tournament officials reduced the event to 36-holes and final round action will begin Saturday morning with a shot-gun start beginning at 8:10 a.m. Campbell and Miami (Ohio) are currently tied for first in the team portion as they each recorded an opening round of 284, four-under par. East Carolina (42-57-2) is one-stroke back in third-place (285), while Old Dominion, Kennesaw State and American are all tied for fourth (288). Robert Dinwiddie (Tenn. State), Kyle Spahr (Campbell) and Mike Calkin (Miami, Ohio) are tied for first after recording an open round of 68. Sitting one stroke back in a tie for fourth are ECU's Smith, Fredrick Sundberg (Campbell), George Zolotas (ODU) and Phillip Watkins (Tenn. State) at 69. "I'm really pleased where we are heading into Saturday," said Head Coach Kevin Williams. "Early this spring we had some roster changes and I think the team has adapted well. Over the past month, we have improved individually and as a team and I'm real excited for what the future holds. Robin, has been playing some good golf lately. Today he birdied two of his last three holes and I expect him to continue his play tomorrow." Top Pirate Finishes Top Individual Finishes Top Team Finishes
